Central Bank to support ruble

MOSCOW — "If it is necessary to strengthen the ruble by 8 percent to fight inflation, we will definitely do this," Alexey Ulyukayev, senior deputy chairman of the Central Bank, has declared at an economic forum in London. At the same time, the Bank of Russia is not going to leave currency trade and will try to prevent the ruble from fluctuating considerably.

Ulyukayev also pointed out that it would be difficult to retain inflation at the level set by the budget, but the Central Bank would still try to fulfill this task. "We have a wide range of instruments to do this," he underlined.
