Tipped as the purveyors of a new musical wave with a bitter flavor, the Dead Brothers are said to be extremely entertaining live performers. Their music offers up a myriad of different genres. The band members have been influenced by such various sources as James Joyce, blues and jazz musicians, post-modernist theater directors and whimsical designers.

The Dead Brothers got started three years ago in Geneva. Their debut album, "Dead Brothers," came out in 2000 on Voodoo Rhythm Records and was recorded with just one microphone.

Since then, their eccentric approach to life and music has become more melodramatic and, against the odds, more popular. They’ve honed their skills at mixing folk, blues, jazz and country music with whatever musical "leftovers" they’ve picked up.

Some people claim the Dead Brothers resemble troubadours or clowns. And indeed, the Brothers have much in common with street artists of the past.

There’s something undeniably cool about the Dead Brothers, if only because the music they play is genuinely sincere, funny and alternative.

The Brothers will perform at B2 on April 24 at 11 p.m.
