Kavkazskaya Plennitsa, a Causcasian restaurant with a Georgian focus, is celebrating its fourth birthday. The weeklong celebrations will culminate Oct. 25 when, in addition to clowns and jugglers, such stars as Yevgeny Osin and Valery Syutkin will be performing retro pop shows. The restaurant is also offering a present to each patron this week.

Eastern anniversary

The Eastern restaurant Beloye Solntse Pustyni (White Sun of the Desert) is also celebrating a birthday this week - its first. The party will last from Oct. 28 to Nov. 2 and each day will have an original theme, all from the classic Russian flick that gave the restaurant its name. The week will feature a battlefield kitchen and soldiers' rations Oct. 28, a gourmet food-heavy Yekaterina Matveyevna Day on Oct. 29, black caviar, vodka and water melons for Vereshchyagin Day on Oct. 30, belly dancing and fortune telling Nov. 1 for Gyulchatai Day, and men's games, shooting and wrestling Nov. 2 for the Day of Abdullah and His Harem.

Trendy Traffic

A new around-the-clock cafe, Traffic, has finally thrown a commercial launch party to enter the city's restaurant market. It seems Traffic's designers were looking to kill two birds with one stone: The eatery is combines the features of a cafe and a restaurant, and boasts cozy VIP seats as well. The menu is versatile and includes European, Japanese and dieter-friendly dishes. And look for DJs spinning Wednesday through Saturday evenings.

Tasting at O'Mar

The Mediterranean restaurant O'Mar is continuing its popular tasting series. On Nov. 1 at 7 p.m., the restaurant will be presenting wines from South Africa and Australia. Clients who stop by the restaurant that night will not only get a chance to taste the wines, but also their compatibility with the restaurant's dishes. Also, the evening will feature a buffet, a musical program and contests.
